Assistant Women’s Hockey Coach
Bemidji State University (BSU) invites qualified applicants to join our team as an Assistant Women’s Hockey Coach. BSU’s vision is to educate people to lead inspired lives. The BSU Intercollegiate Athletic Department sports programs are a member of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) and Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA). BSU sponsors the following NSIC sports teams: football, men and women’s basketball, women’s soccer, volleyball, women’s cross country, women’s indoor and outdoor track and field, softball, baseball, men and women’s golf, and women’s tennis as a member of the NCAA Division II. The WCHA men and women’s ice hockey teams are a member of the NCAA Division I. The Athletic Department is fully committed to equity and diversity in our faculty and students.
Responsibilities of the Assistant Women’s Hockey Coach include:
- Assisting the Head Coach with organization of the NCAA Division I Ice Hockey Program.
- Demonstrating a commitment to adhering to all rules and regulations of the NCAA Division I and WCHA.
- Recruiting students to participate in the ice hockey program.
- Providing on-ice coaching to participants.
- Traveling extensively for the program.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Management, Athletic Coaching, Exercise and Sports Science, Physiology, Kinesiology, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Knowledge of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I and Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) Rules.
- Two (2) years of NCAA Ice Hockey coaching experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.
- Demonstrated ability to recruit student-athletes.
- Evidence of a strong work ethic and high level of integrity and honesty.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
- Master’s Degree in Sport Management, Athletic Coaching, Exercise and Sports Science, Physiology, Kinesiology, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Experience working with defense or goaltenders.
- Excellent record-keeping skills that demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail.
- Commitment to continuing education and professional development.
- A demonstrated commitment to the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism.
