Position Overview:
Join our dynamic team as a ReStore Associate and contribute to Northwoods Habitat for Humanity’s mission of building affordable homes in our community! As a ReStore Associate, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of our home improvement retail store, with a strong focus on donation management. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with donors, customers, and volunteers in a fun, engaging, and impactful environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer and Donation Management:
- Greet and assist donors and customers with a friendly, welcoming attitude.
- Manage the donation receiving area and ensure smooth processing of incoming items.
- Screen donations and respectfully enforce acceptance guidelines.
- Sort, clean, price, and stock donations on the sales floor.
- Inspect and ensure all donated products are in working order before stocking.
- Process both donated and sold merchandise following safety guidelines.
- Manage sold items in the holding room and ensure proper organization.
Volunteer Coordination:
- Manage and coordinate volunteers working in the store.
- Provide guidance and meaningful tasks to volunteers to enhance their service experience.
- Assist with the daily and weekly “to-do” lists, ensuring all volunteer duties are completed.
Merchandising and Store Maintenance:
- Create and maintain engaging, attractive displays for merchandise.
- Help ensure the sales floor is organized, clean, and well-stocked.
- Assist in maintaining the layout of the store for a convenient and enjoyable shopping experience.
- Monitor inventory and ensure all items are priced appropriately.
- Work with the ReStore Manager to update pricing and ensure proper signage.
Operations and Safety:
- Open and close the store following established procedures.
- Report any issues such as needed repairs or operational concerns to the ReStore Manager.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including lifting up to 50 pounds and standing/walking for long periods.
- Suggest improvements for store operations, safety, and procedures.
- Monitor for security issues and immediately report any concerns related to theft or safety.
Qualifications:
- Retail experience is preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and donors.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions for outdoor tasks (e.g., snow removal, lawn maintenance).
- Passion for supporting Habitat for Humanity's mission.
