ITS2 - Business Analyst / Software Application Integration Specialist
BEMIDJI STATE UNIVERSITY (BSU) and NORTHWEST TECHNICAL COLLEGE (NTC) invite applicants to join our Information Technology Services (ITS) team as a Business Analyst / Software Application Integration Specialist. This position is responsible for software application integration of applications used by students, faculty, staff, administrators and external constituents of Bemidji State University (BSU) and Northwest Technical College (NTC). This position will also serve as the Business Analyst to assist BSU and NTC in the transition to NextGen Student.
Responsibilities of the Business Analyst / Software Application Integration Specialist include:
- Serving as the Business Analyst for NextGen Student. (Percent of Time: 30%)
- Acting as a liaison among stakeholders in order to understand the structure, policies and operations of an organization and to be able to recommend solutions that enable projects to be successful and goals to be met. In particular, this includes participating in requirements gathering sessions to analyze, define and document business processes, software requirements, data management systems and development of specifications for technology initiatives.
- Working as a liaison between IT and business representatives, analyzing business activities and presenting the findings for analysis of solutions to purchase, implement, or develop. The Business Analyst works with development team members by collaborating on the development, testing, deployment and adoption of solutions. The Business Analyst also communicates and consults with system user populations concerning system changes and implementation planning for changes and releases.
- Assisting with software application integration. (Percentage of Time: 20%)
- Under the direction of the Lead Software Application and Integration Specialist, designing, developing and implementing data integration solutions between disparate application systems. Consulting with campus and external constituents to ensure integration solutions meet the requirements of business needs and application system.
- Providing ongoing technical support and maintenance of software applications and integrations to make certain the functional design meets changing business needs and providing updated functionality as necessary. (Percentage of Time: 20%)
- This includes applications such as survey software and enterprise content management (ECM) software.
- Providing timely and effective IT support for BSU and NTC employees and students across all technology platforms, while creating and maintaining clear technical documentation and delivering user training. (Percentage of Time: 20%)
- Accurately documenting, researching, and analyzing issues to determine appropriate solutions for rapid resolution. Responding to support requests via phone, electronic channels, and in person. Escalating tickets to technical experts as needed. Developing and maintaining internal and external knowledge base articles that are clear, coherent, and organized in accordance with established style guidelines, ensuring they are searchable and accessible to relevant communities. Communicating resolution details and status updates to clients and capturing them in the ITS knowledge base for future reference. Assisting with training faculty, staff, and students through in-person sessions or web-based methods to promote effective use of technology resources.
- Professional development and continuous improvement will be obtained by attending conferences or participating in training classes, acquiring knowledge of current technology trends by reviewing trade publications and software and hardware documentation, and participating in professional IT organizations through personal attendance, e-mails, and newsletters. (Percent of Time: 5%)
- Performing other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintaining the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner. (Percent of Time: 5%)
- Two (2) years of current experience providing information technology support services; a Bachelor’s degree in a related IT field may substitute for 1 year of experience; an Associate degree may substitute for 6 months of experience.
- Working knowledge of a variety of computer platforms including Apple and Windows OS, printers, mobile devices, and peripherals, sufficient to analyze, solve or recommend solutions.
- Working knowledge of network and server concepts and protocols sufficient to diagnose or troubleshoot issues.
- Working knowledge of a variety of software applications including Microsoft Office and Internet applications sufficient to analyze, solve or recommend solutions.
- Ability to evaluate user needs and recommend specific applications to meet those needs.
- Ability to understand detailed technical information.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate technical information to technical and non-technical users.
- Ability to problem-solve and implement applicable solutions.
- Knowledge of databases and data management concepts.
- Experience working with Minnesota State databases and systems.
- Experience working with Microsoft Power Bi.
- Experience working with Microsoft Access.
- A demonstrated understanding of FERPA and data privacy requirements.
