The Spoken Word Committee of Watermark Art Center is excited to present the writing of the late Susan Carol Hauser. This event will include a reading of excerpts from Hauser’s book My Kind of River Journey: Seeking Passage on the Mississippi, as well as some personal remarks by friends of hers. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with the reading beginning at 7.
This event is part of a recent series at Watermark Art Center focusing on the Mississippi River, held in conjunction with We Are Water MN. These events highlight Watermark’s current exhibit America’s River Re-Explored: Paintings by Thomas Paquette of the Mississippi from Source to Gulf.
My Kind of River Journey is a book of poetry, essays and field notes that chronicles Hauser’s journey down the Mississippi from St. Paul to the Gulf of Mexico, a passage she took with her husband on a repurposed ocean trawler. My Kind of River Journey not only captures the couple’s experiences on this adventure, but also tells the story of the river, its movement and undercurrents, and its role in her personal transformation.
