Flower Arranging Seminar & Class

Mark your calendar for July 18 at 6:30 at the 4H building on the Beltrami County Fairgrounds for a beginners seminar and class on Flower Arranging. The purpose of this program is to give participants a better understanding of the types of floral arrangement categories in the Beltrami County Fair Exhibitors List and also to help more people find the joy in floral arranging. There are two parts to the program. The first part will be a presentation on the basics of flower arranging, talking about all around, vertical, horizontal, and basket arrangements as well as single color and multicolor color palettes. Things to consider when planning and making a flower arrangement will also be discussed, as well as the best types of flowering and non-flowering garden materials to use in arranging and how to collect these components and process them in a way that they will last for several days. The second part will be an optional hands-on practicum where participants will make a flower arrangement from materials provided by Netzers floral. This hands on design class will focus on basic techniques and creating an all around arrangement. A sharp scissors will be needed for this class. Participants will take their own projects home at the end of the workshop. The fee for hands on design class is $20 dollars to cover the plant materials and container. Our objective is to increase the number and quality of flower arrangements at the Beltrami County Fair in August. Flower arrangements are entered at the Commercial Building between the hours of noon and 7 pm. on Wednesday of the fair. They will be judged that evening or the next morning and be on public display from noon on Thursday until the end of the fair on Sunday afternoon. Exhibits need to be picked up on Sunday evening at 5:00 p.m.
