Event Description
GEMS (Great Explorations in Math and Science) emphasizes cross curricular learning and has aligned their guides to the national standards. Certificates provided for 6 hours of continuing education credit at completion. Pre-registration required, by March 15. Call (218) 444-4472.
9:00am - 12:00pm School Yard Ecology
This guide brings together a combination of science and math skills as students compile information and construct concepts about the environment. Using direct observation of the relationships between the school yard environment and the organisms that live in it will spark student's curiosity. Targets grades 3-6.
1:00 pm - 4:00 pm Matter: Solids, Liquids and Gases
This guide helps students learn that are are different types of matter and generate definitions and understanding of their properties. Targets grades 1-5.
The fee includes either the Matter or Schoolyard Ecology GEMS Guides. Lunch will be on your own with good restaurants within short walking distance.
