Public Service Announcement: First Friday Art Walk in Bemidji for Feb 2012
BemidjiCommunity Art Center-invites you to the Annual “Members Show” as a part of the First Friday Art Walk onFebruary 3rd, 2011. Join us for our opening reception from 5 to 7pm featuring work that is created or collected by members of the Bemidji Community Art Center. Shop 426 will also be open just in time to find a special gift for Valentines Day! All proceeds from Shop 426 benefit BCAC programming and the artists of Shop 426. The BCAC is free and open to the public. Visit us at 426 Bemidji Ave N in downtown Bemidji. Brigids Cross Irish Pub and Restaurant – artist Jake Baggenstosswill be displaying a series of his food-related paintings for the month of February. Jake’s works will be available for purchase as originals or there will be a limited number of prints. Good Noise,a local band of talented artists will be performing for the opening of this show. Cabin Coffeehouse and Café – presentswork by designer and artist Kendra Fuller of Urban Essence Interiors. For her exhibit Kendra will be taking her wall finishing techniques and transferring the process to canvas. She will be exhibiting different samples of work featuring Japanese Plaster, Metallic Plaster, Metallic Paint, Glaze recipes and different stencils. NEW VENUE! FREAXIS STUDIOS - Fortuna Puppet Theatre and Skidmark
present new puppets and prints in “Manifesto: bug, egg, heart”. Join us on Feb 3rdfrom 6 to 9pm as a part of the First Friday Art Walk. The evening includes a puppet performance at 7pm, make-n-takes and refreshments for all!! FREAXIS is located in the lower level of the BCAC building (Carnegie Library Building) 426 BemidjiAve N.
Gallery North –Join us on Feb. 3 from 2:00 to 5:00 for our First Friday Art Walk reception featuring our Showcase artists; painter Kathy Sanders and wood carver Les Sanders. The Featured Artist of the month will be fiber and mixed media artist Patty Lovegreen. Join her from 2:00 to 5:00 on Friday as she demonstrates the techniques in hands on demonstrations and take home a beautiful hand made origami gift box. Special Visitors will be WhipStaff Animal Ranch and Rescue. Celebrating its 22ndyear of operation, WhipStaff will have dogs and possibly puppies available for adoption. RailRiver Folk School- will host The Northwoods Folk Collective. TheNorthwoods Folk Collective Open Stage offers an opportunity to share stories, music, poetry and other performance art with an attentive, enthusiastic, inter-generational audience. Saarens Productions - The Fleur de Lis Art Gallery announces New Works by Local, Regional and Featured Artists on exhibit beginning Friday, February 3rdas a part of the First Friday Art Walk from 2:00pm to 6:00pm. Please Note:The First Friday Indy Film Festival featuring work by Nathan Fisher and Spencer Olson has been changed to Friday February 24th. The opening of “Ruby Lips Above the Water” been postponed and will now run Feb 2ndthrough the 6th. Curtain times are 7:30pm Thurs, First Friday, Sat and Mon, and 2 pm on Sunday. We are located at 501 Bemidji Ave. in the Mason’s Lodge. Gallery hours are Wednesday to Friday, 2pm to 6pm & Saturdays, Noon to 4pm. and during Wild Rose Theater Events and By Appointment. The Center of Therapeutic Arts - Join us on Feb 3rdfrom 3:30 to 5:30 for “Lucy Learns to Color” by artist and educator Nina Lubarski. Influenced by her students and the art they create, Lubarski was inspired by her k through 3rdgraders to write and illustrate a children’s book creating a story that can be shared with all ages. “Art is a passion I get to share and teach with kids everyday. Creating this book is another tool I can use to teach and inspire them in return.” The Center of Therapeutic Arts is located at 521 Minnesota Ave, Bemidji, MN( next to Wild Hare Bistro).
